Miriam graduated with a B.S.
degree in June 1991 from the Occupational Therapy
program at East Carolina University in Greenville,
NC. After receiving her degree, Miriam moved to the Raleigh area, along with her husband and son. She received her Therapeutic Massage certificate,
in 1999, from the Medical Arts Massage School
in Raleigh, NC, and taught at the school for 3 years. She also received her Medical Massage certification in January 2007 from BTI in Siler City.
Miriam has been practicing
massage therapy since early 1999, after working
for 8 years as an occupational therapist,
specializing in the rehabilitation of orthopaedic
and neurological conditions.
Since opening Moonshadow
Therapeutic Massage and Rehabilitation, Inc., she has combined her occupational
therapy and massage skills to build a medical
approach to therapeutic massage. In January 2007, Miriam completed her Medical Massage certification from Body Therapy Institute (BTI) in Siler City, NC.
Miriam specializes in Medical Massage; Deep Tissue; Trigger Point Massage; Pregnancy (Pre-Natal and Post-Natal) Massage; Sports Massage (pre-event, post-event, injury); Craniosacral
Therapy; and Swedish Massage.
She also specializes in Occupational Therapy Services; Manual Lymph Drainage; Doula
Services; and On-site Chair Massage. |

Lisa graduated from the Massage Therapy Program at Caldwell Community College in Boone, NC. She also earned a B.A. in Enlish from Appalachian State University, in May 2007, while minoring in Spanish.
Lisa brings 5 years of massage experience and compassion to Moonshadow. Her specialties include Medical Massage; Deep Tissue; Swedish; Hot Stone Massage; Sports Massage; and On-site Chair Massage.
Lisa is also a part-time Hang Gliding Instructor for Kitty Hawk Kites in Nags Head, North Carolina. |

Cynthia graduated from Miller-Motte College's massage therapy certification program in April 2008. She is also certified in Pregnancy and Postpartum Massage through Claire Marie Miller's "Nurturing the Mother" series. Prior to her massage therapy training, Cynthia earned a B.S. in Public Health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with a concentration in Health Policy and Administration.
Her specialties include Deep Tissue; Pregnancy (Pre-Natal and Post-Natal) Massage; Sports Massage; Reflexology; Swedish Massage; and On-site Chair Massage.
Having worked in both traditional office environments and as a stay-at-home parent, Cynthia has a strong interest in helping clients address the postural effects of everyday activities such as computer work, carrying young children, and frequent driving/commuting.

Lyla graduated from the Body Therapy Institute in Siler City, NC, in October 2007. She is nationally certified in massage, and also holds certifications in Integrated Reflexology and Nurturing the Mother Pregnancy Massage through Claire Marie Miller Seminars.
Prior to studying massage therapy, Lyla earned a B.S. degree in Information Systems Management from the University of Maryland and spent 23 years as an analyst providing support to the U.S. Navy. As a massage therapist, she enjoys being able to help her clients move toward greater health and wellness.
Her specialties include Neuromuscular, Deep Tissue, Pregnancy Massage (Pre-Natal and Post-Natal), Hot Stone Massage, Reflexology, Swedish Massage, and On-site Chair Massage.
Lyla is currently working toward certification as a Neuromuscular Therapist.

Marcus graduated with honors in May 2006 from the Medical Arts Massage School in Raleigh, NC. He has over 800 hours of concentrated instruction in massage therapy, and specializes in the following modalities: Neuromuscular Therapy, Deep Tissue, Swedish, Sports Massage, and Tuina. He continues to study and develop bodywork skills and looks to add a certification as an Active Isolated Stretching (AIS) practitioner in the coming months.
Prior to his massage therapy studies, Marcus graduated from East Carolina University in 2003, where he was active in intramural sports and received bachelor degrees in Philosophy and Religious Studies.
Marcus offers a hands-on approach to pain relief that is effective and oftentimes long lasting. Educating clients about modifying daily activities and implementing daily stretching routines is a pivotal part of establishing a therapeutic alliance among those who seek to take charge of their own wellness.
He is an instructor and head clinic supervisor at The Medical Arts School (TMAS), and also coordinates the Community Service and Continuing Education programs at TMAS. His pragmatic and grounded approach to teaching makes him a favorite among students.
Marcus is a professional member of Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals (ABMT), and volunteers with several charities such as the American Diabetes Association’s STEP OUT Walk and Race for the Cure, Safe Child, Franklin County SPCA, and Thad & Alice Eure Walk for Life.
He is well traveled but has now settled in North Raleigh with his wife and two small children. |

Christi is a graduate of the Swedish Institute of Massage Therapy in Manhattan, New York. As a license massage therapist, Christi has over 20 years of experience. She has worked with the China National Olympic Team in Beijing China, and has a strong interest in wellness, holistic health, and sustaining healthy lifestyles.
Christi’s specialties includeTherapeutic Massage, Deep Tissue, Sports Massage (pre-events and post-event injuries), Myofascial Release, Trigger Point, Neuromuscular, Lymphatic Massage, Tunia, Swedish Massage, and On-site Chair Massage.
In addition to being licensed in massage, Christi has an Associates Degree from The Art institute of New York. She is a Culinary Chef, specializing in holistic baking. |
